The total meetings market in the Benelux is estimated to reach €6.3 billion in direct expenditure in 2026. This emerges from the first joint Benelux measurement conducted by the three national trade associations.
Context
For the first time, the measurement has been standardised across all three countries. The Netherlands accounts for 68% of the total market, Belgium for 27%, and Luxembourg for 5%.
Industry response
Trade associations have welcomed the joint measurement with pride. At last, we can speak of the Benelux as a single market. This gives us a stronger position vis-à-vis European stakeholders and governments.
Broader perspective
€6.3 billion is an impressive figure. However, the measurement covers direct expenditure only. The indirect effects are at least as significant and are not captured centrally.
A joint Benelux measurement is a first step towards better data. Better data leads to more effective policy influence and a stronger narrative for the sector.
