The Haarlem identity

Haarlem is one of the most beautiful historic city centres in the Netherlands — more compact than Amsterdam, less touristy, intimate in scale. The Grote Markt with the Sint-Bavokerk, the hofjes, the canals — Haarlem possesses all the hallmarks of the great Dutch city without the crowds or the price tags.

For events that want Amsterdam but cannot afford it, or simply wish to avoid the congestion, Haarlem is the alternative that almost nobody considers — and everybody is delighted with.

The sectors

Creative industries and media. Haarlem has a strong creative sector, partly fuelled by its proximity to Amsterdam yet with a character entirely its own. Graphic design, photography, advertising.

Flowers and food. The Bollenstreek, directly to the south of Haarlem — tulips, lilies, bulb crops — is an internationally recognised growing region. Events in the agri-food or flowers sector find a uniquely fitting context here.
